What are Cashback Rewards and how do they work?
Cashback Rewards are special offers that help you save money on everyday purchases. When you claim an offer in the EarnIn app and pay with your linked debit card at a participating location, you earn cash back that gets deposited into your Tip Yourself account.
You can earn rewards on in-store purchases at participating gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores and restaurants.
To use Cashback Rewards, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old and a United States resident.
- Have a Tip Yourself account
- Have a debit card linked
- Pay with your physical debit card, mobile payments are not compatible.
- Enable GPS permissions for the EarnIn app
Where can I find these offers?
If you’re eligible, you can find Cashback Rewards on your app’s home screen or by clicking “more” in the Explore section then finding the “Earn cashback on daily purchases” tile.
After accepting the terms and enabling GPS permissions, you’ll see the Cashback Rewards landing page with a map and list view.
If GPS is turned off, you'll see offers based on a default location instead.
How do I claim a cashback offer?
To claim an offer:
- Tap the Earn cashback on daily purchases tile on your home or explore screen.
- Enabled GPS permissions (if necessary) then view the list or map of nearby offers.
- Choose an offer to see merchant info, cashback details, expiration window and which card is on file.
- Tap “Claim” and make your qualifying purchase within the time frame shown on the offer screen.
- Pay with your linked debit card to earn cash back.
Do I need to link a debit card?
Yes. You must use a debit card that is linked to your EarnIn account to claim any offers. To add a debit card, go to Settings > Linked Bank Account > tap Add next to Debit card.
How do I see my Cashback Rewards?
You can check your rewards in a few ways:
- Look for the Side Hustle tile on your Home screen. If you’ve earned cash rewards playing games or claimed cash back offers from making qualified purchases, this tile will show your tally.
- Open the “Earn cashback on daily purchases” tile. You’ll see your active, expired, and claimed rewards on this page.
- Tap the Access your cash button to view the balance in your Side hustle Tip Jar or your existing Tip Jar receiving cash back deposits.
Rewards are typically deposited 2 to 4 business days after a qualifying transaction.
My cashback is pending, how do I confirm it?
If the offer hasn’t expired:
- First, find the claimed offer by clicking on the “Earn cashback on daily purchases" tile.
- Click on the “Pending” button and tap the “I’ve already paid” button for us to confirm the transaction. Your cash back is then deposited into your Tip Yourself account, usually within 2 to 4 business days.
- Funds will go into your “Side Hustle” jar or your oldest jar.
If the offer expired but you completed the transaction before the expiration window expired:
- Don’t worry! Your cash back should be verified and deposited into your Tip Yourself account.
- Rewards usually arrive in your Tip Yourself account within 2-4 business days.
If you don’t have Tip Yourself yet, you’ll be prompted to sign up and complete identity verification.
I didn’t tap the “I’ve Already Paid” button and my offer expired
If you completed the transaction - don’t worry! We’ll automatically check if your cash back offer was completed when the offer expires.
How long do I have to use a claimed offer?
After you claim an offer, you have 4 hours to make the qualifying purchase if it’s a gas station or restaurant, and 24 hours if it’s a grocery store (or convenience store). If no transaction is made within that time, the offer will expire. You can also unclaim an already claimed offer if you change your mind.
What if the sign price at the station is different from the price in the app?
Occasionally, your offer price may be different from the actual price at the gas station. Any offers are cross-referenced with your transaction history based on the gas station’s transaction log. This means your cash back is based on the number of gallons of gas you purchased at the price shown in the gas station’s transaction log. So even if the gas prices don't match, you'll receive the cash back reward as displayed.
Can I earn multiple rewards in a day?
Yes, within these limits:
- Up to 5 total cashback transactions per day
- 1 transaction per restaurant or grocery location per day
- Up to 2 transactions per gas station per day
How do I withdraw my cashback?
You can withdraw your rewards as soon as it’s deposited into your Tip Yourself account.
To make a withdrawal from your Tip Jar, tap the Save tab > Manage icon > Withdraw. Funds will be available in 1-2 business days.

Do Cashback Rewards expire?
Once you create a Tip Yourself account, your rewards will not expire.
If you don’t have a Tip Yourself account and no cashback activity occurs for 60 days, your existing rewards will expire. To keep your balance active, make at least one qualifying cashback purchase within 60 days. To receive the cashback reward, you must create a Tip Yourself account.
What happens if I unclaim an offer?
Whenever you unclaim an offer, the cash back offer is forfeited. You can claim the offer again if it’s still available. Unclaimed offers do not count toward the cashback transaction limit of 5 per day.
