Earn rewards for inviting friends to join EarnIn! There are two ways to refer someone:
- Find the referral icon on the top left of the home screen.
- Go to Settings and tap Refer a friend.
How do referrals work?
EarnIn offers referral incentives when someone you refer signs up using your referral link or code.
Your reward
Referral rewards change from time to time, so the amount and type of reward you get depends on the offer shown in your app at the time you refer someone. Your reward may be:
- Cash deposited into your Tip Yourself account, or
- A temporary increase to your Cash Out Max for a limited number of pay periods
Always check the Refer a Friend screen in the app for the offer that applies to you. The reward shown there is the one you will receive.
Your friend’s reward
Your friend gets a Tip Yourself deposit for each EarnIn product they sign up for: Cash Out and/or Early Pay.
Reward requirements
If they choose Cash Out: Your reward is sent once the new community member you refer transfers out.
If they choose Early Pay: Your reward is sent once the new community member’s qualifying direct deposit lands in their deposit account.
To qualify for Early Pay reward, the direct deposit amount must equal:
- $250 per pay period if paid weekly,
- $500 per pay period if paid bi-weekly, or
- $1,000 per pay period if paid monthly.
Bank transfers and peer-to-peer transfers (e.g., Venmo) do not qualify.
Deadlines
- Your friend has 45 days from activating your referral link to complete a qualifying action: a Cash Out transfer or a qualifying direct deposit.
- Your friend then has 60 days after that to set up a Tip Yourself account and claim their reward.
If either deadline is missed, the offer expires.
Why did I get a Max increase instead of cash?
Referral offers vary, and some rewards come as a temporary increase to your Cash Out Max instead of cash in your Tip Yourself account. This gives you access to more of your earnings for a limited number of pay periods.
The Refer a Friend screen in your app always shows the offer that applies to you before you refer someone. If you are not sure which reward you received, contact us and we will take a look.
How do I sign up using a referral code?
Here’s how to sign up with a referral code:
- Download the app from the app store (Android or iOS).
- Follow the next steps to sign up and set up your account.
- On the “How did you hear about us?” screen, choose your answer from the dropdown list.
- If the referral code is not already entered, tap “Have a referral code?” and enter your referral code.
- Double-check your entered code then click CONTINUE.
- Proceed with setting up Tip Yourself to complete your account set up.
Where can I view my referral and their status?
You can check out your referrals and their status by following the steps below:
- Tap the “Earn $” referral icon on the top left of the home screen (or tap Refer a Friend in the Settings menu).
- Tap the clock icon at the upper right corner of the Refer a Friend screen.
- Review past referrals, existing referrals and their status.
Make sure you have the latest app version to see the icon on the Refer a friend screen.
I referred a friend but did not receive the referral reward, why?
EarnIn sends your reward after the person who signed up with your link or code sets up their account and completes a qualifying action: a transfer (Cash Out) or their first direct deposit to their Deposit Account (Early Pay).
Check with the person you referred to make sure they have completed those steps. Then check the reward type on your Refer a Friend screen. If your offer was a Max increase rather than cash, you will not see a Tip Yourself deposit. The Max increase will be reflected at the start of your next pay period.
I signed up using a referral link/code but did not get my reward, why?
If you are not seeing the referral reward in your Tip Jar, you might be missing one of the following qualifications:
- It is your first time joining the EarnIn community and you completed EarnIn account setup
- You completed your first transfer or received your first direct deposit to your Deposit Account within 45 days of activating the referral link
- You set up Tip Yourself within 60 days of completing that action
